Some of my oil work
Here is a selection of my oil painting.
Ashness Bridge, Barrow Beck Stream, Derwent Water, Cumbria
Medium: Oils (Daler and Rowney Artist Oils)
Paper: Arturo Stretched Canvas
Size: 16″ × 20″
Duration: 6-7 hours over two days

Ashness Bridge in the Lake District, Cumbria. The Barrow Beck stream runs under this picturesque old packhorse bridge down to Derwent Water which can be seen in the distance. More excellent views across Derwent Water can be seen further south at Surprise View as you head towards Watendlath.

This is my real first attempt at painting with oils, I am really quite surprised with the outcome, the colours are far more vibrant than acrylics (what I’m used to). I also decided at the outset to try and paint this using mainly palette knives. I may add more at a later date, when it has dried sufficiently to enable me to try some fine brush work, not sure, or IK just may leave as is, seeing it’s my first attempt an all. I have certainly gained a great deal of respect for this new medium I’m trying.
